H ello, First you might keep windows update regularly to obtain the latest driver for your device. Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers.

Microsoft tests drivers in various environments before they are published; however, we cannot guarantee all drivers will work on all hardware platforms as there are too many different models, although their hardware ID are the same as the standard version. In some cases, due to hardware modifications by different manufacturers, the driver updates may cause some error. If it does not work on your issue, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode.

Remove and rescan that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file - Properties and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows Vista in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver. In addition, you can use the Windows XP driver for testing. Meanwhile, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; you might wait for another period of time till the retail version is released and push the vendor company to upgrade their device driver.

I've found a solution that, at least, will work on the Pro and Ultimate versions. First of all you have to install the Windows XP Mode. Download links and instructions here:, or follow this great guide:.

Once finished, enter in your new 'Windows XP Mode' and download / install the Lide20 Windows XP driver and the CanoScan Toolbox. Plug you scanner in, and in the USB menu on top of the XP Mode select 'Attach'. If everything's OK, you scanner will work flawlessly inside XP Mode. It's not exactly a quick process, but it's a free solution I hope you find it useful. It may also work with other unsupported drivers.

Cheers from Spain.Along those same lines, if you don't have Win7 professional or Ultimate, you can download Virtual Box, from Virtuabox.org as long as you have one of your older 32 bit OS's on hand. I installed Virtual Box onto win7 64, installed my old windows XP pro 32bit OS into virtual box as a guest OS, then installed my LIDE 20 and printer drivers into that.

Works like a charm, and you can also use any program with twain drivers, like Photoshop. I've also set-up shared folders between my host OS (win7 64 bit) and the guest OS's. I now have XP pro 32, Vista 32 and Ubuntu 64 installed as guest OS's in Virtual Box.

VBox has transformed me into a virtual machine freak.it's almost borderline O.C. Being able to bring-up any of those OS's via a few mouse clicks is pretty handy for driver issues like this as well as when people call me with a specific question about an older OS. Virtual Box is a free download, so there's definite bang-for-the-buck if you have a 32 bit OS on hand to install as a guest OS. Solution above works perfectly. (VMWare, VirtualBox or other visualization software will do the same.

As said in the previous comments) But it's still pretty annoying when you are not able to use the scanner directly in Windows 7. (Personally I was not able to get the VueScan drivers work properly) But fortunately I found a solution for this problem: Try to get RemoteScan.

It's like sharing your printer. (Con: an official license is pretty expensive to buy.) When you have installed it you can use your Canon Canoslide Lide 20 (also 30 etc.) directly in Win7 x64. The only thing you have to is startup the XPMode in background (it functions as the scanner server). How to install: - First follow fogya's post - Download (buy) or try to get RemoteScan - Install the RemoteScan Server software on the XPMode VM - Your XPMode VM must have correct network access with your win7 pc. (That means: same workgroup name, use the correct network adapter settings etc., e.g.

You must be able to see the win7 pc in 'Network' with 'Search for computers in your workgroup'. Install the RemoteScan Client software on your win7 x64. Use your scanner directly in every windows 7 software. Of course you can also use another PC at home that already runs XP as the scanner server. Similar help and support threads Thread Forum Hi, I figured out how to get this scanner to work in Vista 64 about a year ago and have now got it working in Windows 7 x64.

So in case you didn't see my Vista post i thought I'd post it in here also. It uses the Canoscan LiDE 60 scanner 64bit driver: Files required: Winrar. Drivers Hi, I have an old Canon Canoscan scanner that I would still like to use but, as I have just bought a new PC that runs under Win 7 Premium 64-bit, the Canon website does not support this version of OS, only the 32-bit one which I am assuming wouldn't work?. Is there any way of getting it to. Drivers I have been going crazy trying to get my Canoscan 4200F to work with Win 7 64 bit Home Premium. I downloaded the 64 bit driver from Canon & under 'Device Manager' it says that it is working. I try to use 'TWAIN' in several photo editing programs & it says ' cannot connect to device, Cable.

Drivers I have been told that Canon do not intend to issue a Windows 7 64 bit driver for the Canoscan N67ou scanner.:( Is there any way round this or do I have to buy a new scanner? Advice gratefully received. Simon Drivers Canoscan LiDE 600F / Windows7 64bit Professional - Version6.1, (build 7600) Hi I am struggling to get my Canonscan LiDE 600F to work with Windows 7 (64bit).
